Open Dental is the first dental software written for the Windows.NET framework! Windows.NET will be replacing Windows XP next year. We use only cutting edge technology to bring you one of the most stable and advanced products available.
All your data is available to you and under your complete control! Not just some of your data, but ALL of it is open, available to other programs, and always under your control. Plan for the future and use software that is built on open standards, not software that is closed and proprietary.
System Requirements: To run Open Dental, your main computer must have Windows XP or Windows 2000. Your workstations can be running on Windows 98 or later. All computers must have a monitor that is at least a 15" LCD (flat) or a 17" CRT (standard).
How Open Dental compares to other dental software: The big four dental software programs right now are Dentrix, Softdent, Eaglesoft, and PracticeWorks. Open Dental has not been around as long as they have, so the features are less extensive, but we are catching up fast. We currently excel in such areas as custom export and reporting features. Our screens are very large with crisp controls and lots of information available at a glance. There are, however, still some features that are missing in Open Dental. It is not currently intended for larger practices with more than two dentists or more than 7 operatories. The database is powerful enough, but Open Dental still needs a few more features, specifically better reporting for multiple providers, and the ability handle more operatories.
